Kikuletwa Hot Springs also known as Rundugai hot water springs or Chemka hot springs are an unexpected paradise hidden in the desert scrub outside the town of Boma Situated about 71 km from Arusha. They are an extraordinary phenomenon, rushing up from underground in the middle of parched and dusty landscape. In fact, the water is not hot rather it is a pleasant temperature! This is a good place to visit for a picnic and a swim too. And the views of Kilimanjaro on a clear day are also fabulous. The crystal-clear, turquoise waters surrounded by palm trees and winding roots offer a scenic spot for a relaxing afternoon swim. The spring is actually rather big and over 6 meters deep in some places although you can see the bottom through the crystal clear waters no matter where you are. You can have as much fun or relaxation as your heart desires and your mind and body needs.

This is a typical itinerary for this product where you’ll be picked up from your hotel in Arusha/Moshi and drive on a tarmac road to Boma Ng'ombe. From Boma Ng’ombe, the drive will turn on a gravel road for about 30 minutes later. The road will take you through gorgeous African country side past bush land, dry riverbeds, and baobab and acacia trees among many others. This vast area, which used to be a hunting ground for Europeans during the 1800s, is home to members of many different tribes, peacefully co-existing as neighbors. Although the game has long since migrated, it is still a haven to many animal species, including a variety of birds. When you reach Kikuletwa it will appear as an oasis surrounded by sprawling fig trees, in the middle of this semi arid landscape. You will see crystal clear water bubbling from underground caves, giving the impression that it is boiling, hence the name “Hot springs”. The water is perfectly refreshing and if you brought your bathing suit, this is your time to take a dip and relax in the shade of the trees. After a picnic lunch we will start making our way back to Moshi/Arusha via back gravel roads. Chemka Hot Springs is the best place to visit after a Kilimanjaro hike or a safari adventure.

The tour with was nothing short of incredible. Gifton is knowledgeable, funny and extremely personable which made the day so much fun. The hike to the waterfall is not too long and the views in Meru forest are breathtaking! I was awed by the incredible craftsmanship at Shanga and the African Art Gallery at the cultural centre just has to be experienced. I could not recommend enough!

Tips for your guide and cook. Industry recommendations are $15 a day to the cook and $20 a day to your guide divided by everyone in the vehicle.

Payment policy

To reserve this tour, a payment of 70% of the total price must be made at the time of reservation. The balance of 30% can be made on arrival in Tanzania, prior to the departure of your tour.

Your deposit can either be made by means of a Bank Transfer, with the addition of a 45 US Dollar fee, or by Credit Card, which incurs an additional bank charge of 3.5%.

Either the final payment can be made through Credit Card, again with the addition of a 3.5% bank charge, or in cash in US Dollars (US Dollar Bills should not be older than year 2009).

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellation of a holiday must be made in writing and is effective from the date we receive the written notification. Cancellation charges are expressed at a percentage of quoted price as follows :-

If the reason for cancellation is covered under the terms of your insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim the cancellation charges from your insurance company. Notwithstanding the above, if we have issued your domestic airline tickets and you choose at any time to cancel them then the cancelling for Domestic Tickets will be 100%.
