This day tour brings you to Jozani-chwaka National park, the largest area of indigenous forest on Zanzibar Island. Home to one of the most famous and endearing residents of the Jozani-Chwaka National Park is the Zanzibar Red Colobus monkey. Here, you will get a chance to see one of the rarest apes species on found in Zanzibar island, the famously know Zanzibar-red colobus monkeys (Piliocolobus kirkii).

JOZANI FOREST WALK

Most people likely think of Zanzibar (Tanzania) for its beautiful beaches and Luxury resorts, Or perhaps also for its very unique and famous spice tours, the slave-trade history and architecture. Or maybe as the birthplace of Freddie Mercury. However, get off-the-beaten-path and you will discover Zanzibar has other interesting places to explore. One such place for those who like things to do outdoors is the Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park which sits between the towns of Jozani and Chwaka Bay and, therefore, easily accessible for those staying in Stone Town or resorts in the eastern side of the island.

In the park, you will begin your visit with a walk through the natural forest, where the smaller trees and bushes create several sub-canopies under the highest canopy. Followed by a walk along the nature trail through the forest, which is an habitat for many animal species including the red colobus monkey, the spotting of which is a top priority for many visitors to the park. The natural forest and the nature walk are just a couple highlights of your day spent in the national park; explore the site with your guide, walk the boardwalk through the mangroves, and discover a turtle rehabilitation center.

The tour with was nothing short of incredible. Gifton is knowledgeable, funny and extremely personable which made the day so much fun. The hike to the waterfall is not too long and the views in Meru forest are breathtaking! I was awed by the incredible craftsmanship at Shanga and the African Art Gallery at the cultural centre just has to be experienced. I could not recommend enough!

Tips for your guide and cook. Industry recommendations are $15 a day to the cook and $20 a day to your guide divided by everyone in the vehicle.

Payment policy

To reserve this tour, a payment of 70% of the total price must be made at the time of reservation. The balance of 30% can be made on arrival in Tanzania, prior to the departure of your tour.

Your deposit can either be made by means of a Bank Transfer, with the addition of a 45 US Dollar fee, or by Credit Card, which incurs an additional bank charge of 3.5%.

Either the final payment can be made through Credit Card, again with the addition of a 3.5% bank charge, or in cash in US Dollars (US Dollar Bills should not be older than year 2009).

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellation of a holiday must be made in writing and is effective from the date we receive the written notification. Cancellation charges are expressed at a percentage of quoted price as follows:-

If the reason for cancellation is covered under the terms of your insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim the cancellation charges from your insurance company. Notwithstanding the above, if we have issued your domestic airline tickets and you choose at any time to cancel them then the cancelling for Domestic Tickets will be 100%.
