The Umbwe Route is one of the most secluded ones on Kilimanjaro. It starts at the tropical rainforest and goes in parallel with the Machame Route, joining at Barranco Camp on 3800 m point. Hiking Umbwe you will see all the climate zones of Kilimanjaro from the rainforest to the famous glaciers. Umbwe also is the shortest way to Uhuru Peak due to its steepness, however the properly selected camps are always good to adapt well.
